Greece Photo Gallery

This collection of images represents work from a 3 week trip to Greece. It began in the northwestern and mountainous region of Greece called Zagori which is a short 40 mile drive north from Ioannina. It’s a rugged landscape containing beautiful arched bridges and a number of small villages with slate tile roofs and cobblestone streets. Not as well known perhaps as the more tourist oriented cities and islands to the South it still makes for a great location for a photographer to visit.

I’ve always been attached to bright colors, both in nature as well as man made structures. Heading far South from Zagori I made my way to the island of Santorini. My initial plan was to visit several islands during my 3 week tour of Greece but knowing how I like to really get to know and work a subject I decided to park myself in Santorini. Even though it’s not large compared to other neighboring islands I found plenty of photo opportunities.

It was dramatically different from the mountains and villages of Zagori but as with the images I’d captured there I found myself drawn to the windows and doorways on the island. In places like Oia everything seemed spotless, especially along the cliffs which are lined with store fronts and lodging. A short drive, or walk for that matter, and you can find old dilapidated buildings, still with signs of the brightly painted walls and framing, or perhaps an old boat tucked away in the wildflowers. And dogs, lots of dogs and a few cats all seeming to have the run of the town, especially in Oia. I was always up early, or as might be considered by the locals, out late, each day and usually had the place to myself. I made a few four legged friends along the way, one in particular that followed me around town on a couple different occasions.

All images are available as signed limited edition prints. Typically they are printed on Fuji Crystal Archival “Super Gloss” paper and come un-mounted and unframed. Other options are available but not listed here yet. These included prints on canvas which are stretched over a frame or face-mounted on acrylic which is a beautiful clean and modern way to display the images.
