Grand Teton Photography Tour
with David C. Schultz as your guide
**This, as with any other tour offered, may also be booked as a private tour at an additional cost.
Your Grand Teton Photography Tour will focus on the dramatic landscape of this National Park as well as the abundant wildlife found in and around the area. During your photography adventure we’ll also have an opportunity to photograph horses at a local ranch. One evening we’ll change things up a bit when we attend and photograph the Jackson Hole Rodeo. So as you can see you’ll have a number of different opportunities to help expand your photography skills.
Proposed Itinerary: Activities for each day may be changed depending on conditions and what we’ve encountered along the way.
Day 1:
The plan will be to meet for lunch and a have a briefing on what to expect during your tour. Afterwards you can settle in before we head out to shoot for late day light. Sunset is at approx. 9pm so no need to rush.
Day 2:
Sunrise is at 5:45 am so we want to be out the door early, perhaps 5 am in order to reach our location, to be determined according to conditions. As the mid-day light is not typically great for landscapes we’ll take a break for a late breakfast/early lunch then meet up again for late afternoon and sunset shooting.
Day 3:
We’ll begin the day very early photographing the round-up of horses at a local ranch. Depending on conditions we may change this to an afternoon opportunity or perhaps do both.
David has a few favorite locations for sunsets and as always we’ll make adjustments to the shooting schedule depending on what Mother Nature has planned. If all participants opt-in we will attend the Jackson Hole Rodeo. This will be a great opportunity for action shots. We’ll have dinner in Jackson prior to the rodeo which starts at 8pm.
Day 4:
Start the day photographing from the mountain top on the east side of the Teton Valley at one of David’s favorite locations. Access can be limited by road conditions and snow height this time of year. More will be known prior to your arrival. We’ll always be on the look-out for wildlife photo opportunities in the area as this is a good location for spotting bison, elk and antelope.
Mormon Row, including the much photographed barns, are found in the Valley so if it looks like the light is in our favor we’ll stop and explore.
Later in the day the plan is to head back into the Park looking for wildlife near Oxbow Bend where moose, river otters and a variety of birds are likely to be spotted.
Day 5:
This day will be adjusted depending on what we’ve accomplished so far and according to travel plans of the participants. One option will be for a short off trail hike to another of David’s favorite landscape locations seldom visited by others. We’ll finish up the tour around noon.
Just the nature of nature photography means we often will play things by ear taking advantage of what comes our way. This will be the case during the entire Grand Teton Photography Tour .
