Time to consider booking a private winter photography tour with lessons in the Heber Valley near Park City, Utah. If you’re planning a visit to the area for a little skiing or just along for the ride while others hit the slopes this may be an option for you. Also, if you’ll be in the area during the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and are looking for something to do away from the crowds this is a perfect getaway.
A few years back I decided to add these photography lessons in the winter during the Park City ski season. I’ve offered these very popular 1/2 day private photography lessons for many years during the summer and fall but held back from the winter season due to my Antarctic travels.
Photographing in the winter can be a new and sometimes frustrating experience. Getting exposures correct is usually the biggest stumbling block for many and this is something I go over in detail while we’re out exploring the beautiful Heber Valley.
There are still dates open for a photo tour this coming winter but these are limited due to other currently booked reservations and my very busy season with at least six photography tours in Yellowstone.
Here are a few photographs captured during past winter photography tours in the Heber Valley.

I am thinking about a winter trip to Yellowstone in January – I am planning to drive from PA. I have a nice Canon 7D Mark II and a 400 mm lens but am intimidated by all the bells and whistles and don’t take it off auto very often. I just happened to find you while searching about wolves. Last year I drove across country with my niece who was moving to CA and we did all the National Parks in Utah. It was an awesome trip so I decided to take another winter trip. My schedule is flexible and thought I would just get some information.
Thanks for your time and consideration.

Hello Ann
Sounds like a fun road trip you have planned. I hope you’re aware that much of the Yellowstone road system is completely closed in the winter. The only exception is the far north route from Gardiner over to Cooke City.
The tours I do in the Park during the winter are via a small snowcoach I charter and I limit each tour to two guest. These are based out of West Yellowstone. You can get on one of the daily snowcoach or snowmobile tours but not with dogs and they are typically not “photo tours”.
You’re welcome to give me a call if after reading this you have any questions. At this time all five of my tours are full.
Take care, David
